The construction of pathways has been started at the extended land at the cemetery in Sector 25.

Anil Masih, general secretary, Minority Cell, Chandigarh BJP, said the community was facing problem in the burial of bodies due to the shortage of space in the existing cemetery.

The long-pending work was today started with a prayer at the cemetery, he said.

Masih said they were following up on the matter from a long time with the Municipal Corporation and now, the work would be completed in a month.

He gave special thanks to Sanjay Tandon, assistant in-charge of the BJP Himachal Pradesh unit, local BJP president Arun Sood and Shailender Singh, Chief Engineer, MC, for taking up the matter for approval at the MC House meeting.
