Contract killing plot linked to rival groups in Dadumajra unearthed
Juvenile held with country-made pistol; enmity behind recent assaults
The police have uncovered a suspected contract killing conspiracy between two rival factions in Dadumajra Colony (DMC), following a series of violent incidents reported over the past week.
The breakthrough came after the arrest of a 17-year-old juvenile in possession of a country-made pistol and two live cartridges. The police believe the weapon was meant to be used in a planned retaliatory attack between the feuding groups.
A team from Maloya Police Station, led by Inspector Jasbir Singh, achieved the breakthrough during patrol duty near a park in Sector 38 (West) on Wednesday night.
The police said the juvenile, identified only as “K”, was apprehended with an unlicensed pistol and two live cartridges. Three other suspects — Pritam alias Noni, Sahil alias Breed, and Suraj alias Kancha — managed to escape the spot and are on the run.
During questioning, the juvenile reportedly revealed that Bano, along with her sons Deepak and Vishal, and her husband Bablu, had hired them to kill Bunty, a DMC resident, and his nephew Rohan.
The alleged plot was said to be in retaliation to an October 18 FIR registered against Vishal’s family after a previous clash.
The earlier incidents form part of an escalating feud between two neighbourhood groups. On October 17, complainant Deepak, son of Babli, was attacked outside his home by four men — Rohan, Nikhil, Bunty, and Sunny — resulting in serious head injuries. The next day, a counter-complaint was filed by Bunty, alleging that his brother Sunny was assaulted by Vishal, Rahul, Lucky alias Dhillo, Gaurav, Vashu and others, in which Sunny sustained grievous injuries and was admitted to PGIMER.
Following these developments, a third case under sections of the Arms Act and the BNS was registered at Maloya on October 23. The apprehended juvenile was subsequently sent to the Juvenile Home in Sector 25.
Raids are underway to trace the absconding suspects. The operation was launched under the direction of Senior Superintendent of Police Kanwardeep Kaur, with close supervision from KM Priyanka, Superintendent of Police and oversight by Assistant Superintendent of Police (South) Anurag Daru.
