As many as three buildings have collapsed in the Tricity in the past one month, with experts identifying unscientific digging, weakening of base near structures, unskilled labour, substandard construction quality, and lax implementation of building bylaws as probable causes behind such incidents.

Sources said the building owner stays in New Delhi and construction was being carried out under the supervision of the contractor and an acquaintance of the owner.
