A construction contractor has been arrested for raping a 16-year-old girl near Landran.

The suspect, Sunny, raped the daughter of a labourer a fortnight ago. He met the victim at the office of a property dealer, where she worked as a domestic help. He took her to his home on the pretext of some work and raped her there.

She has been admitted to the Phase-6 Civil Hospital. The police said Sunny was evading arrest. A case under the POCSO Act and Section 64 of the BNS was registered on June 17.
