Patiala, October 13

Contractual workers of various government departments accompanied by their children and wives today held a protest march from PUDA grounds near Gurdwara Dukhniwaran till YPS Chowk demanding regularisation of their jobs.

The protesters gathered at YPS Chowk said the previous SAD-BJP government brought The Punjab Ad hoc, Contractual, Daily wages, Temporary, Outsourced and Employees Welfare Act, 2016 but the current government was not implementing it.

They said the government should regularise their services and provide them salaries on full scale. They said the workers released from contract should be re-hired while the families of those who die on duty should be provided a government job and Rs50 lakh as compensation.
