A local court has directed a man, who was caught drinking at a public place, to do community service for four days at Old Age Home in Sector 30. As per the police, on July 10 accused Jitesh Kumar was found consuming liquor at a public place under the Industrial Area Police Station.
In a state of intoxication his misconduct caused annoyance to public, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 355 of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita and Section 68(1)B of Punjab Police Act.
The accused pleaded guilty and claimed leniency.
The court said instead of imposing any fine or punishment on the convict, he is directed to do community service for four days at Old Age Home. He shall report to the Investigating Officer of the present case on August 7. The IO will coordinate with the Old Age Home in-charge, who will assign duties to the convict. After four days, the attendance chart of convict along with the report of his community service be submitted to the court.
