Skipper Surya Narayan Yadav (146) and Akshit Rana (110) came up with centuries to help Chandigarh gain a commanding position against Goa in the ongoing Cooch Behar Trophy match, today.

Chasing 232 runs, the city lads had closed the opening day at 15/4. Yadav resumed the innings with Pratham today and the duo raised a 79-run partnership for the 5th wicket. Pratham was playing at 29, when Ruthvik Naik accounted his wicket.

Thereafter, Yadav and Rana joined hands to revive the innings. In the priocess, they raised a 176-run partnership, which was broken by Naik after he claimed Rana for 110 off 164 balls, with 21 boundaries. Yadav meanwhile continued to get support as he was joined by Yuvraj Choudhary.

The duo raised another important partnership of 71-run partnership. Yadav completed his 146 off 292 balls, studded with 21 boundaries, before losing his wicket to Mohit Redkar. Choudhary (39), Amit Shukla (33) and Sehbaaz Singh (14) later contributed to take the team’s total to 416. The city lads managed to get a 184-run lead over Goa, despite a shaky start.

Naik (4/63) was the pick of the bowlers, while Jagdish Kumar, Harsh Jethaji and Redkar claimed two wickets each for the bowling side.
