The incident took place when a cop supervising the anti-encroachment drive suddenly lost his cool and allegedly assaulted the employee.

Residents condemned the strong-arm tactics being used to remove encroachments.

Mayor Kundan Gogia, when contacted, said he came to know about the incident from the media and expressed regret over it. He assured that appropriate action would be taken in the matter.

Despite repeated attempts, MC Commissioner Paramvir Singh was not available for comments. On the other hand, the eatery owner alleged that he was being targeted at the behest of his business rival.
