In a move to enhance public safety across the district, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Srishti Gupta today convened a key meeting with police personnel deployed at major checkpoints.

The meeting underscored the dual responsibility of alertness and courteous conduct in day-to-day policing.

DCP Gupta issued firm instructions for officers to maintain high levels of vigilance at checkpoints to deter crimes such as snatching, theft and other unlawful activities.

She warned that any lapse in duty would invite strict departmental action, reinforcing that negligence would not be tolerated.

Emphasising a balance between firmness and empathy, the DCP urged officers to deal sensitively with the public.

She made it clear that while security checks are essential, law-abiding citizens should not face unnecessary inconvenience.

To ensure officers’ own safety, especially during night shifts or in poor visibility, the Deputy Commissioner of Police mandated the use of reflector jackets and essential safety gear. She stressed that a well-equipped and alert force is key to ensuring not just the security of the city, but also the well-being of those enforcing it.
