The All-Churches Council has requested the entire Christian community to pray at their home on this Good Friday in view of the complete lockdown in the country due to Covid-19.

Sharing the importance of the day, All-Churches Council president Anil Masih said Good Friday is held in honour and remembrance of Jesus crucifixion. It is held after Maundy Thursday, which recalls the last supper. In Christianity, Jesus crucifixion is one of the most important segments of the Holy Bible. Christians believe Jesus took on all sins of the world and thus it is only through his sacrifice that they are redeemed and allowed to enter into heaven.

“On this Good Friday, we will pray for the healing of the sufferers affected by this deadly virus. We will also pray for all doctors, nurses and paramedical staff taking care of all patients in the hospitals. We will also remember our police, administration and our entire nation in our prayers,” said Anil Masih. — TNS
