Court acquits Haryana man in three-year-old rape case

Special Judge, fast track court, here has acquitted a person, Suresh Kumar, a resident of Haryana who was booked in a rape case three years ago. The police had registered the case on the complaint of a woman on February 25, 2021.

According to the FIR, the woman said she was a resident of Gurugram and the accused met her at a mobile phone shop.

He started talking with her and told her that he was a coach of kabaddi and presently working in the police department. He gave her an offer to get her recruited in Haryana Police and took her mobile number. She said in June 2018, the accused called her and asked her to come to Chandigarh along with her documents.

The accused took her to his house in Sector 15, Chandigarh, and ‘raped’ her. She alleged that the accused also called her at Hansi, Haryana, in August 2020 and committed ‘rape’ with her. During the course of investigation the accused was arrested.

After completion of investigation, a challan against the accused was presented in the court and charges framed against him.

Vikas Sagar, counsel of the accused, argued that there was no medical evidence against the accused. After hearing the arguments the court acquitted the accused.

Juvenile held guilty in POCSO case

Special Judge, fast track court, here has held a child with conflict of law (CCL) guilty in a case registered under POCSO Act two years ago. Police registered the case on July 9, 2022, on the complaint of a minor victim. In the complaint the victim said in January 2022 the accused had physical relations with her forcibly. During the course of investigation, the accused was apprehended.

After completion of investigation a challan was presented against the accused and charges against the accused framed. After hearing the arguments the CCL was held guilty by the court, which would pronounce the quantum of sentence on August 23.
