Complainant had submitted that she was a Non Resident Indian (NRI) and was already married and had two sons out of her first marriage. She had obtained divorce in the year 2014. Thereafter, she met accused Naveendeep Singh in the year 2016 at Mobile Market, Sector 22, Chandigarh. The accused showed his interest towards her and he assured to marry her. Thereafter, the accused started living together in live-in relationship with the complainant at a flat in Jalvayu Tower, Kharar. The accused allegedly made physical relations with her on the pretext that he would marry her. The accused exploited the complainant physically and financially and also compelled her to give him Rs.2 lakh for purchase of car and a scooter.

Whenever she asked the accused for marriage, he used to avoid the conversation on one pretext or the other. Later, the accused threatened the complainant of releasing her obscene photos and videos on social media.

Defence counsel Yoginder Nagpal had argued that the accused was falsely implicated in the case and no money was transferred to his client.|

The court noted that: “The prosecution has failed to prove the guilt of the accused for the commission of said offences. Accordingly, all the points for determination stand decided against the prosecution and in favour of the accused.”
