A local court has acquitted a man in a rape and POCSO case registered eight years ago after the prosecution failed to prove the charges. The police had registered the case under Sections 363, 366, 376 (2)n and 376 AB of the IPC and Section 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act (POCSO), 2012, on January 24, 2017, on the complaint of a brother of the minor victim.

He said the accused enticed her 14-year-old sister and took her to Bihar at his native place. During the course of investigation, the accused was arrested. After completion of the investigation a challan was presented against the accused in the court. Charges were framed against the accused to which he pleaded not guilty and claimed trial.

Gaurav Sahota and Prabal Vikrant, counsel of the accused, argued that he had been falsely implicated in the case. They said the complainant had not supported the case of the prosecution. After hearing the arguments the court acquitted the accused of the charges framed against him.
