Cousin held for sexual assault on 12-yr-old girl

According to DCP Srishti Gupta, the police received a complaint alleging that the orphaned minor had been sexually abused by her cousin.
On the basis of the complaint, a case was registered at the Mansa Devi police station under Sections 65(1) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 6 of the POCSO Act. The investigation was assigned to Sub-Inspector Pooja, who promptly arrested the accused on Sunday.
DCP Gupta confirmed that the survivor’s counselling had been arranged, with full support being provided for her mental well-being. The accused has since been remanded to judicial custody.
Emphasising zero tolerance towards crimes against women and children, DCP Gupta said such offences were a blot on any civilised society.
