Crackdown on illegal mining in Mohali: 4 vehicles seized, 2 arrested
Three FIRs registered, mining vehicles seized in Dera Bassi sub-division
Mohali police have intensified their crackdown on illegal mining activities, seizing four vehicles and arresting two individuals involved in unlawful mining operations, officials said on Sunday.
Three FIRs have been registered in Dera Bassi sub-division as part of the operation, they said.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of DSP Bikramjit Singh Brar, with special teams from the Dera Bassi, Lalru, and Handesra police stations working in tandem.
The teams executed extensive checking and raids across multiple locations, leading to the arrest of two suspects and the confiscation of four vehicles used in illegal mining.
The seized vehicles included two tippers and two tractor-trollies, one of which was unregistered. The police have filed three cases under Sections 4(1) and 21(1) of the Mining Act at the Dera Bassi, Lalru, and Handesra police stations.
