Cricket coach sent on 7-day leave over ‘slapping’ incident
Association forms two-member fact-finding committee
A day after The Tribune reported a slapping incident involving the coach and an assistant coach of the Chandigarh Ranji Trophy team, the Union Territory Cricket Association (UTCA) has asked the coach to proceed on a week’s leave.
A two-member fact-finding committee has been formed and asked to submit a report within a week.
“UTCA secretary Hari Singh Khurana formed a committee comprising Devinder Sharma and Daniel Banerjee for a detailed inquiry into the entire incident that took place in Indore. Rajiv Nayyar (coach) has been told to proceed on leave till
the inquiry report is submitted. A senior selector has been appointed as the coach for the upcoming Ranji Trophy match against Punjab,” a UTCA spokesperson furhter
confirmed.
Meanwhile, Chandigarh Ranji team’s assistant coach Sandeep Arora had submitted a complaint against the coach for slapping and humiliating him during the team’s recent tour to Indore for their third match against Madhya Pradesh.
