Cricket fans upbeat about IPL playoffs at Mullanpur stadium

Cricket buffs are filled with joy and eagerly waiting for the sale of tickets to start as the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches return at the Maharaja Yadavindra Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur.

The final phase of the IPL will conclude with Mullanpur and Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium hosting the playoffs. The region’s most famous cricket stadium will host the much-awaited Qualifier 1 on May 29 featuring the top-two ranked teams, followed by the first Eliminator on May 30.

As soon as the IPL Governing Committee announced the plans, the region’s cricket buffs started enquiring about the tickets.

“As soon as the news came, I started searching for online tickets. It will be very difficult to get tickets near the days of matches,” said Suraj, a cricket buff.

“Since summer vacations are round the corner, the demand for tickets will be at all-time high. Punjab Kings are in good form, and coincidentally they will be playing their playoff game here. It will be a really exciting moment for the fans,” added Gemini.

“The dates for the sale of tickets will be announced soon. The arrangements have already been started and all the procedures will be followed. Since, the scheduled matches are of playoffs stage, the BCCI officials and many other dignities are expected to arrive here,” said an official.

It will be for the first time that the stadium would host the IPL playoffs. The stadium can accommodate 38,000 spectators.

As per the original schedule, Hyderabad was to host these two matches with Kolkata hosting the second qualifier and final.
