Cultural display marks Himachal Statehood Day

DAV College, Sector 10, celebrated Himachal Pradesh Statehood Day with enthusiasm and a vibrant cultural display. The event, jointly organised by the student councils HSA and HPSU, highlighted the rich heritage of Himachal Pradesh.
The celebrations began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and a welcome address by Principal Jyotirmay Khatri who underscored the historical importance of Himachal Pradesh attaining statehood on January 25, 1971. Khatri praised the state’s contributions to India’s development and its cultural significance.

A captivating cultural programme showcased Himachal’s traditions, featuring performances like the naati dance, Punjabi and Haryanvi folk dances and melodious Himachali songs.
Traditional attires, handicrafts and a stall serving Himachali delicacies like siddu drew special attention from attendees.
Organised by the DSW team, the event aimed to honour Himachal Pradesh’s cultural heritage. Deputy Deans Manminder Singh Anand and Sumita Bakshi were instrumental in ensuring the event’s success.
