The BJP-backed Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad’s Panjab University unit today announced to launch protests against the university authorities if the incidents of violence on the campus were not curbed.
On July 29, ABVP member and PU research scholar Vishal Malik and another party activist Azad Singh were attacked by some armed assailants, including PU students, while they were in their room at Boys Hostel No. 6 on the campus. Both of them received injuries and were admitted to the GMSH, Sector 16. The police had registered a case, but no arrest was made.
“We urge the university authorities to ensure that no such act of violence takes place on the campus and those involved in the recent incident are rusticated. If justice is not delivered, we will be forced to launch protests against the authorities,” said Rajat Puri, an ABVP leader.
“The miscreants involved in the attack on our party members were also involved in various other incidents of violence on the campus,” alleged Parvinder Negi, ABVP’s campus president.
