To break the transmission of the coronavirus, the UT Administration today declared nine more micro-containment zones in the city.
UT Adviser Manoj Parida said the issue of outbreak of Covid-19 was examined by a committee and a considered view emerged that the affected areas be declared as micro-containment zones in the city.
The affected areas declared as micro-containment zones are parts of Sector 15, 20, 37-D, 38-A, 40-A, 42-C, 45-C, 46-C and 51-A.
Parida said regular screening and monitoring of the areas would continue and frequent sanitisation of the areas would be conducted. Besides, residents had been advised to strictly maintain social distancing, wear a mask and follow hand hygiene.
As many as 14 micro-containment zones were declared on November 19.
City reports four deaths, 116 cases
Chandigarh: The city on Thursday reported four deaths and 116 fresh cases of Covid. A 69-year-old man from Mani Majra, who was also suffering from acute respiratory distress syndrome, died at the GMSH-16. An 80-year-old man from Sector 40, who was also suffering from hypertension and diabetes, died at Fortis Hospital. A 61-year-old man from Sector 15, who was brought dead at the PGI, tested positive posthumously. An 85-year-old man from Sector 37, a case of hypertension, died at Grecian Hospital, Mohali. tns
