The deceased has been identified as Dilip, a resident of Bhankharpur village and native of UP. Mubarikpur police in-charge Kamal Taneja said Dilip was returning home on a bicycle after having food at an eatery in Zirakpur. When he reached the Ghaggar bridge, a speeding tipper coming from the rear side hit him. Dilip fell from his bicycle and was crushed under the tyres of the tipper, killing him on the spot.

The deceased was working at a Zirakpur multinational warehouse, but was on leave today, the police said. After the accident, traffic was disrupted on the Ghaggar bridge for about half an hour.
