A person was killed after a speeding car rammed into a cycle near the garbage dump in Sector 23 around 8:30 pm last night. The victim has been identified as Rinku.

The incident took place when the victim and his cousin, Govind, were on their way to Ashiana in Sector 26 on separate bicycles.

“The car, which was being driven rashly, rammed into my brother’s cycle from behind. I escaped collision by a few inches. My brother was taken to the Civil Hospital with the help of passersby where he succumbed to injuries during treatment,” reads the FIR, quoting the complainant.

The complainant said he couldn’t note down the number of the vehicle due to dim light. A case has been registered under Section 304A (death by negligence) and 279 (rash driving) of the IPC.
