A cyclist was killed after being hit by a Verka truck near the Sector 31/Industrial Area light point.

According to the police, complainant Pushp Raj of Faidan village reported that the cyclist, identified as Rattan Singh Chawla, a resident of Phase IX, Mohali, was hit by the truck on June 25.

The victim was seriously injured and taken by the police to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, where doctors declared him brought dead.

A case under Sections 279 and 304-A of the IPC and Section 3/181 of the Motor Vehicles Act has been registered against the driver, Ravi Kumar, at the Sector 31 police station.

Ravi Kumar was arrested and later released on bail.
