A direct bus service from Chandigarh to Baijnath has been started by the Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) and will start from ISBT 43 at 2.15 pm from Saturday. The bus will reach Baijnath at 10 pm daily. The next day, this bus will leave Baijnath at 5.48 am and reach Chandigarh at 1.33 pm.

According to officials, the bus will reach Baijnath at 10 pm. Though this bus was flagged off by UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria about eight months ago, it will run on this route now. In January, the CTU had decided to run buses on four routes of Himachal, including Chandigarh to Baijnath, Sarkaghat, Joginder Nagar and Shimla among others. Of these, only the one to Shimla was okayed by Himachal Pradesh.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
