The police, however, have registered an FIR under Sections 103 (1) of the BNS at the Sector 17 station on a statement of Dharamvir Singh, a Traffic Police volunteer. The complainant reported that around 3 pm on November 29, a woman, identified as Diskha Thakur, a native of Kutub Shehar, Saharanpur (UP), was found dead near the public ladies’ toilet at Rose Garden, Sector 16.

A senior police officer said, “Preliminary findings indicate that the cause of death was haemorrhage and shock resulting from a sharp-edged injury to the neck. Key developments have emerged from the review of CCTV footage. There’s no evidence pointing towards foul play. Probe is still underway as we await the viscera and full forensic reports to determine the exact cause.”

Police sources revealed that Diksha arrived alone near the Hyatt Centric underbridge around 3 pm in an e-rickshaw, after leaving work early citing health issues. She was then seen walking alone towards the Rose Garden. By 3:15 pm, a passer-by alerted the traffic police stationed at the garden gate after hearing her screams from the ladies’ public toilet.

The investigation so far does not indicate the presence of any other individual accompanying her, nor any suspicious movement around the washroom as per eyewitnesses during the crucial window. Forensic teams had earlier recovered a small kitchen knife from the spot.

After the post-mortem, the body was handed over to the victim’s family.

According to the sources, no family member has expressed suspicion against anyone who might have wanted to harm Diksha.

Police continue to examine digital evidence and await the viscera and detailed forensic reports before concluding whether the death was self-inflicted or caused by another party.
