Taking note of the leakage from the ceiling of the under-construction section of the Phase 6 Civil Hospital out-patient department for the past several days, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Komal Mittal today visited the hospital to assess the situation.
While reviewing the rainwater disposal from the hospital roof ceilings to
the Rainwater Harvesting System, Mittal instructed the Director Principal of the Ambedkar Institute of Medical Sciences, Dr Bhavneet Bharti, and Senior Medical Officer Dr Parminderjit to immediately engage public health officials from the Punjab Health Systems Corporation to plug all loopholes and ensure water does not enter the hospital building.
Sharing futher details, the Senior Medical Officer informed that the rainwater disposal arrangement for the under construction part of the new out-patient department wing, which is located on the top floor of the building, was yet to be connected to the rainwater harvesting structure or drainage network.
That, the Senior Medical Officer said, had led to leakage issues.
He added that the Punjab Health Systems Corporation has been apprised of the problem, citing the inconvenience caused to the patients.
