After repeated complaints by residents, architects and visitors about municipal council (MC) officials remaining unavailable in their offices during duty hours, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Aashika Jain today paid a surprise visit to the MC’s Zirakpur office.

Besides checking the movement and attendance registers, she checked the delivery of services and disposal of grievances and other issues related to the workings of the MC. She directed the staff to maintain the movement register religiously. She asked them to make entires when they left the office. “Besides regular maintenance, record-keeping needs to improve and biometrics have to be installed,” said Jain, adding that they would also set up an active administrator office here to resolve grievances, and the officials there would report to her directly. She directed the staff to address grievances of residents on priority and urged architects to enter applicants’ numbers so they could receive updates on e-Naksha portal.
