Delhi defeat city lads in Cooch Behar Trophy

Hosts Delhi outclassed Chandigarh by an innings and 94 runs in the Cooch Behar Trophy. Batting first, the Chandigarh lads were bundled out for 168 in their first innings. The hosts replied back strongly and posted 368 to take a 200-run lead. In the second innings, the local batters once again failed miserably and were back to the pavilion at 106.

Delhi’s innings was bolstered by opener Arnav Bugga’s contribution of 91. Atulya (68 ) and Manthan Tanwar (57 ) were the other main contributors for the hosts. Saksham Gahlot (34), Kirit Kaushik (27) and Udhav Mohan (25) also contributed at the end of Delhi’s innings. Vashisht and Ishaan picked three, and Ranvijay Singh Lalotra grabbed two wickets for the bowling side. Sreshth Duggal and Markanday Panchal also claimed one wicket each.

In the second innings, Ehit Salaria (41), Girish Khatri (21) and Udayvir (18), who was substituted after one of the Chandigarh players was allegedly caught tampering with the date of birth certificate, were the only players to make double-figure contribution in the team’s total. Laxman was the pick of the bowlers, as he picked 4/44, while Udhav Mohan grabbed 3/41. Arnav Bugga claimed 2/8 and Kirit Kaushik bagged 1/4 to restrict Chandigarh at 106.
