Delhi’s Sangida defeats Punjab’s Shauryaa in CLTA tournament

Delhi’s Sangida Ruhil defeated Punjab’s Shauryaa Pathak in straight sets 6-2, 6-4 to move into the second round of the girls’ U-18 main draw during the ongoing CLTA-AITA National Series Tennis Tournament at the Sector 10 Sports Complex.

Local contender Japleen Kaur faced some resistance from Sanya Dwidevi, but managed to pull off a 7-6(2), 6-2 win for the next round. In other straight-set wins, Aafreen Ruhil defeated Ekam Shergil 6-1, 6-0, Sana Sesh Varadhamani Rajan ousted Ira Chadha 6-4, 6-3, Princy Mandagalia outplayed Alexa Singh 6-1, 6-1 and Manmeet Kakka defeated Aahana Bhalla 6-4, 6-3.

Local contender Kritiika Katoch also moved ahead by defeating Manasi Tamhankar 7-5, 6-1 and Sidhak Kaur defeated Arshiya Khanna 7-5, 6-0. Haryana’s Avika Yadav easily overpowered Dishita Kumar 6-1, 6-0 and Pratishtha Saini defeated Ananya Sharma 6-1, 6-0.

Top seed Delhi’s Rian Sharma defeated local challenger Shourya Jishtu 6-1, 6-1 in the boys’ U-18 category. Punjab’s Evaan Luthra defeated Haryana’s Ronit Bhalla after a neck-to-neck fight. Luthra logged a 6-7(3), 7-6(5), 6-1 win over his rival. Devanshu Raval of Gujarat defeated Paiterson Chhavi 6-3, 6-0 and Varun Singh defeated Ajay Nain 6-0, 6-1.

Local contender Ribhav Saroha returned from a set down to defeat Rishi Yadav of Uttar Pradesh 1-6, 6-3, 6-2, while Aarav Chawla struggled to defeat Keshav Dangi 6-2, 7-6(11). Maharashtra’s Fatehyab Singh ousted Shubham Pandey without conceding a single game, while Shreyas Dogial logged a 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 comeback win over Abhiram Nilakhle.
