Dependants of deceased advocates get financial aid

Chandigarh, May 31

The Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana distributed financial assistance to the dependents of deceased advocates of Punjab at a function held here today.

Minderjeet Yadav, chairman of the Bar Council, said approximately Rs50 lakh was distributed among the dependants of 42 advocates today.

The amount has been given out of the Rs1-crore grant given by the Government of Punjab for the Advocates Welfare Fund.

The chairman said the State Bar Council always stood with the legal fraternity, especially in this tough time of the pandemic. He told the families of the bereaved advocates that the Bar Council always treated them like their family and stood in solidarity with them. — TNS
