In the letter, Bedi stated that GMADA earned billions of rupees through various auctions and bringing new sectors, but it not make any provision for the meat and fish market in the entire Mohali. He said because of this, be it Mohali village, Shahi Majra or colonies of Mohali, there were unauthorised meat and fish shops. Such places were filthy and stink.

He asked the Chief Administrator to hold a survey of people selling meat and fish in different places in Mohali and reserve land for meat and fish market and provide them shops at reasonable rates.

In a letter to the Civil Surgeon, Mohali, Bedi demanded that licences should be issued to these shopkeepers and their premises should be checked from time to time. Those found violating the rules should be issued challans and their shops be closed, he added.
