Dera Bassi MLA urges traffic police to be more proactive in Zirakpur

Expressing concern over the increasing traffic problem in Zirakpur, Dera Bassi MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa asked the traffic police officials to take on a more proactive role, make road maps and diversions when a bottleneck is created.

Flagging the frequent traffic jams on the the Chandigarh-Ambala National Highway, he said, “In areas where road traffic is heavy in the city, a road map should be made to control the traffic and divert the traffic so that any kind of road jam or accident can be avoided. Speeding vehicles should be challaned on the spot and suspicious vehicles should be checked,” he added.

Randhawa held a review meeting with administrative, police and officials of the Municipal Council. A detailed discussion was held on the development works and law and order situation in the city.

The MLA further said the recent heavy rains had left many streets in the city damaged, paver blocks uprooted and the sewage system battered.

He also directed the municipal officials to immediately repair the affected works with mutual coordination and to complete all the development works expeditiously within the stipulated time. He also directed that the work of the people coming to the offices should be done on priority basis.

“The damage caused across the city due to rains should be repaired immediately so that the city residents do not face any kind of difficulty. The ongoing development works in different parts of the city should be expedited and the concerned officials were instructed to complete every work within the stipulated time,” he furhter added.
