Many programmes were held in the city today on the occasion of consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya. Residents turn up in large numbers despite cold.

Haryana Assembly Speaker Gyan Chand Gupta distributed laddus and danced to hymns of Lord Ram during the celebrations. Gupta said after 550 years, Ram Lalla had been seated in the grand temple of Ayodhya. He said it was a matter of pride for the country. He called upon people to celebrate the day as the festival of lights. A large number of women, children and elderly present on the occasion chanted “Jai Shri Ram”.

Gupta distributed kheer and sweets among people at bhandara organised by former councillor Prem Malik in Rajiv Colony.

He witnessed the live telecast of the consecration ceremony at Aggarwal Bhawan in Sector 16. He formally inaugurated Ram Sadan constructed by the Agarwal Sabha. The building, equipped with all facilities, was constructed at a cost of Rs 45 lakh.

Gupta also inaugurated a dental dispensary run by the Shri Salasar Seva Charitable Trust. After this, he visited Sankat Mochan Shri Bala Ji Dham, Sector 12-A. He participated in a bhandara at Shri Ganesh Temple at Mata Mansa Devi Complex and distributed prasad among devotees.

A live telecast of the Ayodhya event was held at the Yadavindra Gardens in Pinjore today. Deputy Commissioner Sushil Sarwan watched the telecast along with his family members.

Haryana Shivalik Development Board vice-president Om Prakash Devi Nagar, BJP district president Deepak Sharma, former district president Ajay Sharma, district vice-president Umesh Sood and Mata Mansa Devi Mandal general secretary Pramod Vats were among others who participated in the celebrations.
