Constructing a toilet in rural areas is said to be the most easiest thing to do these days with a host of state and Central Government scheme. But Mullanpur Garibdas has had no luck.
The men relieve themselves near the boundary wall of the government school and women face the embarrassment of requesting houseowners on the backside of the main market.
It has been more than five years that the proposed structure for the public utilities on panchayat land has been languishing in ruins. Garbage, wild growth, snakes and insects have infested the place, leaving it out of bounds for users.
Traders and local residents said it is such a shame that despite repeated request at every government department, all their efforts have hit the wall.
The Market Welfare Association has written to the Cabinet Minister and local MLA Anmol Gagan Maan and BDPO, but nothing has happened.
Residents of several villages in the area visit the market daily. “Garbage dumps greet the road users near the entry and exit of the main market,” said Sanjay Singla, a Mullanpur resident.
Birender Jaswal, Omaxe, Mullanpur, resident said, “People face a lot of inconvenience here. The market is getting crowded more and more daily. Wrong parking and heavy traffic make this market chaotic.”
