Dhakoli railway underbridge work to start by November: DC
The Railways today opened the tenders for an underbridge at the Dhakoli level crossing. The construction is likely to start by November and the project would be completed in around nine months, said Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain.
The DC visited the site. She said after the first step of receiving tenders, the railway authorities would now take time to review the documents and allocate the work to the successful bidder.
The purpose of her visit to the level crossing was to assess the conditions related to the issuance of an NOC for the project. The last date for fulfilling all conditions to issue the NOC is September 26, said the Deputy Commissioner. As per suggestions made by residents, an alternative route will be explored from area behind Krishna Enclave to Golden Sand. Officials of the electricity wing have been instructed to shift the poles in the meantime, she added.
The Punjab Government has already deposited its share of the project cost with the Railways.
Interacting with the local residents regarding various issues related to the local administration, the DC assured them of early disposal of the waste dump in the mandi area and speeding up work to install CCTV cameras to curb crime.
