Dhruv Pandove Trophy: Rushil, Aryan give Mohali a good start



Chandigarh, July 22

A fine century by Rushil Shrivastava (109) and 60-run contribution by Aryan Bhatia helped Mohali post 231 runs against Patiala on the opening day of the four-day final of Dhruv Pandove Trophy at IS Bindra PCA Stadium here today.

After winning the toss, Mohali opted to bat. Batting first, Mohali lads posted 231/4 in 78 overs. Sehaj Khanna and Shrivastava opened the innings. The duo added 35 runs for the first-wicket partnership before Khanna (20 off 43 balls) fell prey to Emanjot Singh. Thereafter, Jovanpreet Singh joined Shrivastava and the duo raised 78-run partnership to take the total to 113 runs. Jovan was playing at 35 off 69 balls, with nine boundaries, when he was caught by Jatin Yadav off Abhinav Rao. Later, Bhatia joined the crease with Shrivastava and both batsmen raised 108-run partnership for the third wicket.

The partnership was broken by Rao as he claimed Shrivastava for 109 off 207 balls, studded with 15 boundaries.

Bhatia soon followed the suit after scoring 60 off 125 balls, studded with nine boundaries. He was the last wicket of the day as Mohali posted 231/4. Rao claimed 2/43 to remain the pick of the bowlers, while Emanjot and Harjas took one wicket each for the bowling side. — TNS
