DHS visits patients in home isolation

To assess the situation on ground and see the quality of care being provided to patients in home isolation, Director Health Services Dr Amandeep Kang visited a few patients in home isolation in rural and urban locations here today.
The Health Department has formed teams in five zones for effective and timely management of infected patients.
Health workers in the field were specially asked to take a detailed history of patients on their first visit and record blood pressure and spo2 levels. They should also inform the patients of the signs that would require them to call for help and, if need be, shifting to the hospital for assessment.
She asked them to build confidence in patients and explain to them that when they are shifted to the hospital for assessment they will be monitored, investigated and shifted back home when their condition improves.
Dr Kang stressed upon the use of pulse oximeter for self-monitoring at home. It was noticed that home isolation patients in the rural and cluster areas don’t have pulse oximeters. Health care workers were asked to increase their visits to such patients to keep record of their oxygen levels.
