Roadside eateries, shops and other businesses alongside the Chandigarh-Ambala national highway have been hit badly with a complete halt of vehicles across the Jharmari barrier. Lalru wears a subdued look with minimal activity on the national highway.

Ban on protests, display of weapons

Mohali: The district administration has imposed a ban on the display of weapons and firearms at public places till April 10. The use of firearms has been prohibited at public events, marriage parties and religious congregations. Holding a protest or rally in 100 metre radius of the District Administrative Complex has also been banned. TNS

Residents are wary of petrol and diesel supply at the local filling stations. Students of classes X and XII of scores of CBSE-affiliated schools are having their fingers crossed as to whether they will be able to reach the examination centres on time tomorrow.

The telephone and Internet services around Lalru remained patchy for the third day today, rendering many ATMs non-operational due to cash crunch and Internet disruption.

Dera Bassi SDM Himanshu Gupta said, “Internet is an issue here. We are trying to iron out traffic issues also.”

Neeraj Kumar, a mobile shop owner near the Lalru bus stand, said, “UPI payments and digital transactions are shut for the past two-three days. There is no shortage of supplies as of now.”

The supply from the BPCL depot near Alamgir to Punjab and Himachal Pradesh is continuing through trucks and tankers amidst detours.
