The Joint Government Doctors’ Coordination Committee (JGDC) today announced an end to the doctors’ strike after the the announcement made by the state finance minister to link the NPA with basic pay.

Dr Gagandeep Singh, president, PCMSA, asked the government to issue notification without any delay. He said till then, all doctors would do their job with black badges in protest. He said that the government was asked to reinstate the 25 per cent rate of the NPA and link it to the basic pay. However, the government announced only linking the NPA with basic pay and the rate of NPA stood reduced from 25 per cent to 20 per cent, he added. — TNS
