Chandigarh: An 18-year-old girl, who was working as a domestic help, was found hanging at a plot in the Industrial Area, Phase I. The police are suspecting it to be a case of suicide though no suicide note has been recovered. The victim’s family has, however, alleged that her employers used to harass her. She has been identified as Anju, a resident of Kansal, who was staying in the Industrial Area where her employers reside. She was found hanging on Tuesday morning after which the police were informed. She was taken to a hospital where doctors declared her brought dead. The Industrial Area police are looking into the matter. TNS

Varsity institute holds Webinar

318 boxes of illegal liquor recovered

Zirakpur: The Dhakoli police on Tuesday recovered 318 boxes of illegal liquor. According to information, the police and Excise Department officials conducted a joint operation on a tip-off. The liquor was to be used during the Bihar elections. The liquor, meant for sale in Chandigarh, was being taken in a truck. Officials arrested the truck driver, Rohit, who hails from Panipat. He told the police that truck owner Anil was from Rewari. Officials were trying to trace the owner. TNS

Man assaulted in sec 31 market

Chandigarh: A Sector 46 resident was assaulted by unknown persons at the Sector 31 market on Monday. Complainant Ramesh Kalyan alleged that unknown persons assaulted him and snatched his mobile phone. A case has been registered at the Sector 31 police station. TNS
