While Vinod Vashisht-led City Forum of Residents Welfare Organisations (CFORWO) claims the support of CRAWFED and FOSWAC on the decision of fighting the MC poll in December by RWAs, the heads of the two organisations have objected to it.
They have said they do not support what was decided at a meeting convened by Vashisht. They attended the meeting at a personal level and did not represent their organisations. In its official WhatsApp group, CRAWFED members slammed the CFORWO for trying to “take publicity” by using their name.
“Though I had wished him (Vashisht) all the best for his meeting, we were not part of the meeting. We are a non-political organisation. No one from our organisation is going to contest the poll. If anyone do so, he/she will first step down from the post,” said Hitesh Puri, Chairman, CRAWFED.
Chairman of FOSWAC Baljinder Singh Bittu added, “We have nothing to do with the meeting. We are not anyway attached to that forum.”
However, Vashisht claimed, “Both were supportive of his idea of holding the meeting under a common platform. Since the two could not come due to personal engagements, their representatives had come. Other RWAs heads had also taken part in the meeting.”
The CFORWO, at a meeting of various bodies yesterday, declared that it would field 11 candidates from various RWAs in the upcoming civic body elections.
