The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) continued its drive against unauthorised constructions in New Chandigarh and the Kharar area on the first day of the New Year. The notices mentioned 30 day-time to remove unauthorised constructions else action would be taken according to the law against building owners. GMADA officials said unauthorised construction on the agricultural land was found at several places. “Notices have been issued to building owners earlier too. Thirty-day time has been given to owners to remove unauthorised constructions after which demolition drive will be initiated to raze illegal structures.”

The Mohali administration, town planning, civil, revenue and forest department officials are also keeping a check on violations of the Punjab Land Preservation Act in the Majri and Nayagaon area.
