The UT Administration will implement the amendments made by the Ministry of Law and Justice to the Representation of the People Act, 1950, and the Representation of the People Act, 1951, vide the Election Laws (Amendment) Act 2021 from August 1.

The administration would start linking Aadhaar with the voter ID on a voluntarily basis for authentication of voter identity from August 1. An official said a few updates had been introduced in the forms for enrolment in the electoral roll. Further, the EC would undertake field testing of new forms 6, 6B, 7 and 8 in the production environment before going live. The testing would be held from July 20 to 22. The Chandigarh constituency would also conduct the testing of new forms.
