Drug smuggler held, sent to two-day police remand

The crime branch-19 under investigating officer Sub-Inspector Ravi Kumar have apprehended a person involved in heroin trafficking case. The arrested person has been identified as 25-year-old Shagun Chawla, a resident of Taraori, Karnal district, currently residing as a tenant in Zirakpur, Punjab.

The police received a tip-off from a confidential source that Shagun was involved in heroin trafficking and would be delivering drug near the Industrial Area-1, Panchkula. Based on this information, the crime branch team set up a trap at the location and arrested the accused. Upon search, 8.33 grams of heroin was recovered from the accused. When questioned, the accused could not produce any licence or valid documents related to the heroin.

A case has been registered against accused under Section 21 of the NDPS Act at the Sector 20 police station in this connection. The accused was produced in a court which sent him to two-day police remand. During remand, the police would interrogate Shagun to find out details of the main heroin supplier.
