DSP deposes in case of murder bid against gangster Dilpreet

The statement of Punjab Police DSP Tejinder Singh was today recorded in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge in an attempt-to-murder case registered against gangster Dilpreet Singh Dahan, alias Baba.
The gangster was chased and arrested on July 9, 2018, by a joint team of Chandigarh and Punjab cops near the Sector 43 bus stand.
The case was registered on the compliant of DSP Tejinder Singh, who was posted at the Special Crime Operation Cell.
The DSP told the court that he had got a tip-off from the Jalandhar (Rural) police that Dahan was coming to Sector 43 and the information was shared with the Chandigarh Police. Hence, a joint operation was launched to arrest Dilpreet Singh, who was nabbed after an encounter near the bus stand in Chandigarh.
As per the prosecution, Dilpreet was overpowered after being shot at in his thigh while he also retaliated by doing the same. A case of attempt to murder and under the Arms Act was registered against him at the Sector 36 police station.
Dilpreet, who was produced in the local court, was brought from the Ambala jail. The court has now allowed him to appear through videoconferencing on the next date of hearing, which is February 18.
