ED gets 5-day custody of Lawrence Bishnoi’s associate

New Delhi, February 22

A special PMLA court at Panchkula on Thursday granted five-day custody to the ED of gangster Surender, aka Chiku. A close ally of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, Chiku, was arrested on Wednesday under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

The investigations by ED revealed that Chiku has direct relations with the Bishnoi gang , and he has also invested proceeds from crime generated in mining, liquor, and toll businesses through his allies.

During investigation, various electronic devices, incriminating documents, cash ledgers, property papers, and Rs 5 lakh were found. Further, about 60 bank accounts have been traced. During searches, it was observed that the gang had entered into various agreements to sell without a registered deed, and the properties were taken possession of and used by the gang members.

Documents for 15 such properties were found and frozen under PMLA, 2002.
