Efforts on to save Punjab water, youth, claims Harjot Bains

Sincere efforts are being made to save Punjab’s water and youth. The state government has chalked out a complete plan under the “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign, the meaningful results of which will be revealed soon.

This was stated by Punjab School Education, Higher Education, Technical Education and Public Relations Minister Harjot Singh Bains during his address as the chief guest at the district-level function of a committee, ‘Pindan de Pehredar’, formed under the war against drugs drive by the state government to eradicate the menace, at Morinda in Rupnagar district.

Deputy Commissioner Varjeet Walia, other senior officials were also present.

Bains said awareness was being spread by forming village defence committees in rural areas and ward defence committees in urban areas. He said support groups were also being formed in villages, which would help drug addicts to get rid of addiction.

He said, “Now, our goal is to take this campaign against drugs to every household.” Accusing the previous governments of pushing the youth of Punjab towards drugs, he said the government was fully committed to eradicating this stain.

The Cabinet Minister criticised the policies of the Central government on the issue of water and said the prosperity of Punjab depended on agriculture and the basis of agriculture was water. However, the policies of the Central government were pointing to a deep conspiracy to grab the state water.

Chabbewal MLA Ishank Kumar said the government was making full efforts to connect the youth with sports. Chamkaur Sahib legislator Charanjit Singh said under the campaign, the Punjab government was fighting a decisive war and drug traffickers would not be spared under any circumstances. Ropar MLA Dinesh Chadha said it was the moral responsibility of all to ensure this message reached every village.
