The victim, 76-year-old Paramjit Singh Chauhan, a retired defence personnel and resident of Baltana, was allegedly surrounded by a group of persons while he was trying to catch a bus from outside the PGI gate near Nehru Hospital on July 19.

In his complaint to the police, Chauhan stated that a man intentionally blocked his way as three women distracted him by placing bags over his shoulders. In the confusion, the group allegedly managed to remove his gold “kara” using a sharp tool.
