Emergency response system completes six years of service

The Chandigarh Emergency Response Support System (ERSS-112) has completed six years of service since its inauguration by the Union Home Minister on September 20, 2019. Launched as a unified helpline for emergency services such as police, health and fire, the system has now evolved into a comprehensive citizen support network, integrating multiple specialised services to enhance public safety and welfare.

Over the past six years, Chandigarh ERSS-112 has handled an impressive 17.64 lakh calls and managed nearly 5.87 lakh events. The service has broadened its scope by incorporating the Cyber Crime Helpline (1930), e-beat monitoring, National Disaster Management Authority coordination, WhatsApp Women and Child Helpline (1091), Senior Citizen Helpline (1090), Women Helpline (181) and Child Helpline (1098). Manjeet Sheoran, SP Communication, said, “What began as a unified helpline has grown into a holistic citizen support platform for cyber crime, women, child safety, senior citizen care, disaster management.”
