This incident has raised fresh concerns over drug abuse in and around the PU campus. In a similar case in November, a 24-year-old youth from Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, was found dead in Boys Hostel No. 7 under mysterious circumstances. He had come to meet a friend and frequently stayed overnight without official entry in the hostel register. His friends found him unconscious and took him to GMSH-16, where he was declared dead on arrival. The police found cigarette butts and beer bottles in the hostel room.
